7-Day Ferritin (High) Reduction Plan

A strategy to lower elevated Ferritin when it acts as an inflammatory marker (Acute Phase Reactant), rather than iron overload.

Protocol Objectives
Inflammation vs Iron

If CRP/ESR are high, high ferritin is likely inflammation. Focus on anti-inflammatory diet (Mediterranean).

Sugar & Alcohol

Both increase liver inflammation, spiking ferritin. Elimination is the fastest way to drop levels.

Limit Heme Iron

Temporarily restrict red meat and liver to prevent adding fuel to the fire.

Green Tea

Polyphenols in green tea/coffee inhibit iron absorption and lower inflammation.

Hemochromatosis

If this is genetic iron overload (not inflammation), phlebotomy (blood donation) is the primary treatment. Diet helps maintenance.
