7-Day Bilirubin Management Plan
Protocol Objectives
Do Not Fast
Fasting spikes bilirubin (especially in Gilbert's Syndrome). Eat regular meals to keep the liver enzyme UGT1A1 active.
Hydration
Dehydration concentrates bilirubin. Drink fluids consistently.
Fiber
Bilirubin is excreted in stool. High fiber intake binds it and prevents reabsorption.
Limit Fat (Acute)
If levels are very high due to blockage, low fat reduces bile demand. For Gilbert's, normal fat is fine.

Antioxidant
Mildly elevated bilirubin (Gilbert's) is actually an antioxidant and associated with lower heart disease risk. Don't lower it too much.
